DECEMBER 1929, passed the historic "Purna Swaraj" – that means total INDEPENDENCE resolution at its Lahore session.A Public Announcement was made on 26 January 1930 a day which the Congress Party selected for the Indians to celebrate as The "Independence Day".Our First Prime Minister of India Pandit JAWAHAR Lal Nehru presided the Lahore Congress session. With the commencement of the Constitution of Purna Swaraj, the Indian Independence Act of 1947 and the Government of India Act of 1935, with all Enactments Amending or SUPPLEMENTING the latter Act, were rescinded.But, The Abolition of Privy Council Jurisdiction Act (1949) was however continued. The Surat Congress session was presided by the Ras Behari Ghose in 1907.The Calcutta Congress session was presided by the Dada Bhai Naroji in 1886.The Nagpur Congress session was presided by the C. Vijayaraghavachariar in 1920.
