My tutorial worksheet has this question on Python functional error, but i can't quite figure it out. It says that the following python function has errors that result in the triple function not returning 3 * the argument of the function.

def triple(amt): return 3 ** a

i was thinking it is the (amt), but i'm not entirely sure. Any help will be appreciated.

There's a few python errors here.

The argument 'amt' isn't use in the function. Rectify this by changing the code to 'return 3**amt'.

In python the syntax for multiplication is '*', whereas '**' is exponentiation.

So your function should read

def triple(amt): return 3*amt

Also, you have to be careful with python syntax for functions. Make sure you indent the 'return...' statement under the 'def...' statement.
