Trying to connect a Sybase database to CodeIgniter

I am trying to connect to a Sybase database to my Codeigniter project but I am getting the following error : "Call to undefined method CI_DB_odbc_driver::select()".

On that project I am using 2 databases, the default one is not the one I get the problem from.

To connect to the odbc one, im using this:

$odbc = $this->load->database('odbc', TRUE);

And the query is like this:

 $query = $odbc->select('Codigo, Descricao')->get_where('BDSalarios',array('Codigo' => $codigo));

I already tried this :

$this->$odbc->select('Codigo, Descricao');
                    $this->$odbc->from('BDSalarios');
                    $this->$odbc->where(array('Codigo' => $codigo));

and I keep getting the same error.

I searched over the internet and found that some people were having the same problem as me but I could not find any answer that could get me through this.

What am I supposed to do?
