Commenting on this a newspaper of Singapore wrote that it was improper both from the point of etiquette and morality that you insult the people who are there for your protection . उनके इस अशोभनीय कारनामे पर टिप्पणी करते हुए सिंगापुर के अखबार ने लिखा कि शिष्टाचार तथा नैतिकता दोनों ही दृष्टि से उनका यह कदम अनुपयुक्त था कि आप उन्हीं की बेइज्जती कर रहे हैं जो आपकी सुरक्षा के लिए आए हुए हैं .

The old people who are in the home and in their final years deserve better. … [I]t's shocking that they should be deprived of the food they like on the whim of this man.” A staff member opined that it's “quite wrong that someone should impose their religious and cultural beliefs on others like this.” उसके गुपचुप निर्णय का अर्थ यह हुआ कि केयर सेंटर से पेंशनधारी अपनी इच्छा से बहुत सी वस्तुयें नहीं खा सकेंगे। इस निर्णय की मार से काफी आक्रोश उत्पन्न हुआ । एक निवासी के रिश्तेदार ने इसे, “ अशोभनीय बताया। जो वृद्ध लोग इस आवास में हैं वे अपने अंतिम दिनों में अधिक बेहतर जीवन चाहते हैं परन्तु यह चौंकाने वाला है कि उन्हें इस व्यक्ति की इच्छा के चलते अपने पसंद के भोजन से वंचित रहना पड रहा है” । स्टाफ के एक सदस्य ने अपना विचार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा, “ यह अत्यंत गलत है कि कोई इस प्रकार अपने मजहब और सांस्कृतिक मान्यता को दूसरों पर थोपे” ।
