वैलेन्टाइन दिवस अपने में हल्का विषय है परन्तु इसका दमन करने वालों की प्रवृत्ति संकेत देती है कि इसमें आधुनिकता के विरूद्ध युद्ध अन्तर्निहित है। इस प्रकार दिल बने कार्डों को लेकर पीढ़ीगत और संस्कृतिगत संघर्ष संकेत करता है कि इस्लाम की आत्मा के लिए संघर्ष चल रहा है। क्या धर्माधिकारी प्रेम के दिवस के रूप में माने जाने वाले दिन का दमन कर पायेंगे।

One shopper, buying a red heart-and-rose card for her son-in-law, dismissed it as “only rigidity and cultural backwardness. Through the crackdown, they only buy people's greater hatred and enmity.”
