variation is BENEFICIAL to the SPECIES but not necessarily for the INDIVIDUAL because variation ensures that the species MAY survive over long time even after some drastic changes in their habitant (or niche) but if only the individual of that species get variation and in some drastic condition in their niche,the only individual WOULD survive.Explanation:
