my laptop came with preloaded windows8 single language... i reinstalled win7 and ubuntu13.10, lost the recovery PARTITION(haven't burnt recovery partition into disks). i want to upgrade now to win8, i don't have installation disk. my frnd have the same laptop with same configurations except external graphic card(his laptop doesn't have, but my laptop has 1gb external nvidia). can i use his recovery partition to get back win8. if so, will the recovery media takes product key from bios of my laptop or not(as all win8 preloaded laptops are coming with product key in bios).
thanks in advancei hope this maynot be POSSIBLE because of oem... kinda stuffI suggest you contact the manufacturer of your laptop to request a recovery disc (DVD). They will need the model # and serial # for your computer. They will charge a FEE for the disc and a shipping fee but the cost will probably be less than $20. At least, that was my experience with HP. This may vary by manufacturer, but I believe this is your best option in your situation. thank u DUDE.... but i had installed win8 using setup file
So, your computer came with Windows 7 and you upgraded to Windows 8. How did you Windows 8? How did you get that "setup file" for it? Can't wait to see how Activation goes...my lap came with win8 only(preloaded).... i got setup file from torrents... since win8 takes product key from bios itself Quote from: venkee on February 10, 2014, 05:24:58 AM
my lap came with win8 only(preloaded).... i got setup file from torrents... since win8 takes product key from bios itselfI don't know whether that will work. You could try it and, if it does not work, order a recovery disc from the manufacturer of your computer, as I previously suggested. If you have to order the recovery disc, you will have some downtime unless you can continue using Win 7 while waiting on the disc to be sent to you.
