All right, I lost the case (AKA threw it out in a fit of stupidity) to my microsoft word cds. I had to uninstall it a while back, and now I can't reinstall because i don't have the code. Is there any way to recover it? I heard you can call and pay for it, but then I also heard you can't do that anymore. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.If it's uninstalled and you don't have the number Microsoft is your only hope, and probably a "slim chance to none" proposition.Aw, crud. Well thank you for trying to help; it's greatly appreciated. No problem. I would be eager to hear what Microsoft has to say. The TERM "proof of purchase" comes to mind.I don't think that you can retrieve it after uninstalling the program but you never know.

Try using the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder and see if that will do it.

Maybe you have a small Word booklet with the number on it somewhere.

[ch1046]You can also use Open Office, sponsored by Sun Microsystems, which will read all your Word .doc documents and excel, access and POWERPOINT as well.

Open Office is freeware.

Comes in Russian too.

[ch1046]MJB only applies to the following:
Win95
Win98
WinME
WinNT4
Win2000
WinXP
WinServer 2003
Office 97
Office XPThank you all for your help, but in a fit of spite I have given up on Microsoft Word and downloaded a wonderful creation called Abiware. Whether or not it will blow up my computer I do not know, but I look forward to finding out at the least opportune time. Quote

Yes, Abiword is also a good Word processor if that is all you need.

I like this...

Quote
"I can explain everything."
"All right. Explain everything."
"It's inexplicable."

It is explicable but most don't like to hear the explanation because they find it incredible.

When you tell them, they still don't believe you.

You can quote me.

Do you have a link for Abiware?
I suspect he meant Abiword. Available for Linux and Windows.

http://www.abisource.com/I thought something was wrong somewhere.   AbiWare is adminstration and operational software used by European fire services. It consists of AbiFire, AbiPlan and AbiDispatch. Quote

Yep, SRY meant Abiword. Pretty sure I'm not in the European fire services. Oh, and BTW I'm a she, not a he.   , and btw MASH, the quote is from Bean with Rowan Atkinson. Love that movie. Hehe.I was going to make a crude allusion to hoses but I think I'll pass. Crude allusions are not permitted.
