Yes. Start preparing for CAT immediately after your 12th. The most important thing to be noted here is that having a strong aim in your mind. Free time solving of previous year questions will definitely help you when you appear for CAT. CAT is the toughest examination which you might face in your career. So start preparing from your schooling. Give importance while you prepare for the exam in following ways: 1. Work out aptitude questions with proper concentration and dedication. 2. Read Hindu newspaper and New Indian express newspaper daily. Note down important points. 3. Revise each week you studied frequently. 4. Try to ask students who cleared CAT about their preparation. 5. Try to join one of the best coaching institute like Trumpient Institute of management education TIME. So, my opinion is that you should start preparing from 12th itself.

. Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs.

Why not? You can start the preparations. It is best to start early so that you don't need to be awake till 1-2 AM everyday for the preparation of CAT. CAT exam is considered to be one of toughest exams for MBA and if you have goals to study in IIMs then I would say that this is the time to set your path with objectives. Start reading books and newspapers like ET and TOI which will make your general awareness strong. That will also help you to increase your vocabulary and speed for reading comprehension. Start with the collection of syllabus and old papers if you could find it and analyze the paper. After analyzing, you will understand the level of questions which will provide you with a feedback of from where you have to start and what level you are at and then identify your weak spots and make it your strength. I appreciate your keen interest and this will help you to get very good marks provided you do what you plan. Very nice. Best of luck.

Yes, you can start preparing for the exam right after 12th but you need to have a graduation degree with minimum 60% in order to get admission in a B-School. I would suggest you to take admission into a reputed college and you can prepare for CAT along with your college curriculum. Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 Syllabus Common Entrance Test or CAT analyses the skills of the aspirant in four sections: Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Logical & Analytical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. It is also a test of time management. 1. Mathematics or Quantitative Section Some of the core concepts in maths and quant subjects are: Percentages and its applications Ratio and its applications Algebra Numbers and its applications Geometry and its applications 2. English or Verbal Section Promiment topics inthis section are: Grammar Vocabulary Critical Reasoning (and its numerous applications) Reading Comprehension 3. Analytical Reasoning Section Important topics under AR are: Blood Relations Direction Sense Puzzles Arrangements Data Structures Series Coding-Decoding Clocks and Calendars 4. Data Interpretation Section Problems related to organised and unorganised data are quite common in this section. Core topics are as follows: Table Bar Pie Line graphs etc

Yes, as far as PREPARING for the exam is concerned, you may start right after 12th too but to take admission in a B-School, you need a 3 year UG degree at the time of admission. Also, it is better than you gain some clarity about management career and the list of institutions before embarking on this journey. There are a lot of b-schools but only the top 10% are worthy in my opinion. Hence, more maturity and consulting people will help you make a more informed decision about CAT and the career afterwards.
