When MBA started there was no such specialization was there. But time passed and now corporate sector are looking for experts and specialized candidates it is make more sense to do an MBA with specialization. Specialization nowadays categorizes your skill whether you are good in marketing, managing people I.e. HR, or managing wealth i.e. finance. So always go with the specialization of your interest rather than general MBA. Specialization will give you in depth knowledge of the subject which will help you with your job and your internships as well. Nowadays dual specialization is also getting boost in market. Specialization will make you focus on particular field so you would have a great chance to shine in your interested field. So if you are planning for MBA go with the particular specialization. thanks. all the best.

MBA with a specialization would be a better option rather than to go for general MBA. What will it do? It will give your career a specific direction and the field that you want to go in. If you are interested in marketing, finance, operations or systems, it will give you direction to your career. First, decide which field you want to go in from the above options. If you take general MBA as your option, it will give you a brief of all subjects. You won't get any specific knowledge of a particular subject. A complete knowledge of one specialization is better than having a bit knowledge of every specialization. So, it's better you go for MBA with a specialization. Choose your field by searching for your interest in that field and then finalise it once you study that properly. So in my mind, specialization is an important parameter in MBA.

Initially, general MBA but from now MBA specialization has gained so much popularity. It totally depends on a person that what specialization she or he is opting up for. If yet a person has not decided for specialization, many colleges or campus provide students with MBA general I.e in the first year and then MBA specialization I.e in the second year. By taking this step from various colleges help the candidate to identify for which specialization he or she is made up off. The college or campus provide there students or candidate with all the subject that include finance, marketing, operation and human resource subjects. So that a person may able to judge himself or herself that what is best for her or in which specialization he can cope up with. And on the basis of judging themselves, the candidate can choose a specialization in the second year.

The basic difference between specialized MBA & general MBA is that specialized MBA after the 1st year of common subjects will have specialized subjects in the remaining trimesters/semesters. Most of the B-Schools have common subjects for all the programs in the first year. Also, if you are doing a general management course then many B-Schools offer electives or verticals in the second year of the course. As after going through the first year and doing your summer internship, you are pretty much sure which field you want to pursue your career in. A general management student can basically apply for all the companies at placement time while a specialized course student is mostly limited to his or her sector only. Thus, before joining MBA, you need to be sure about in which sector you want to work and then go for the specialized MBA. If that is not the case then you can think about joining the general MBA program. Do it from a premium institute as you do MBA only once in your career. Thus, prepare well and choose your college wisely.

In MBA beginning year there is no such specialization but in second year, students have to select one subject as their specialization. Nowadays there are many specializations including Finance, HR, Marketing, Logistics, IB, etc. Specializing in any of these subjects will gives you depth knowledge of the subjects which will help you with your job and internship. Generally, specializations are according to the interest of the students. Nowadays many colleges are providing dual specialization in MBA, it means that a student can select two subjects as their area of specialization, it can be both major areas or one major and one minor. Specialization helps in enhancing your skills and specific skills
