Chemical engineering is among the best engineering courses in terms of training, education, placements, research and further studies. Many job opportunities are there for Chemical Engineers in pharma companies. The placements at National Institute of Technology, Surathkal of Chemical are really good. The placement ratio is almost 90%. Many multinational IT companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Google, etc., visit the campus every year and take students from here. The minimum package offered for this branch is around 4-5 LPA, average package is around 7-9 LPA and highest is 15 LPA. Companies like Ranbaxy, Sun Pharma, Oracle, Birla Cellulose, Volvo, Reliance Industries, Tata Advanced Materials, Aditya Birla Group, Siemens, Kirloskar, Godrej, Diesel Logistics limited, Lodha Group, Brenntag, Glenmark, Torrent Pharma, Asian Paints, etc., recruit students from here. All the credit goes to the training and placement cell department of NIT, Surathkal. So, it is really good to do Chemical Engineering from a reputed institute or university if someone is really interested in this and is in the search better packages and further studies. In short, the placements are good enough. Companies like Microsoft, SanDisk, Samsung, Reliance and other renowned companies visit the campus. After 3rd year, almost every student gets an internship through on-campus internships. Also, there are many research internships or scholarships which can be applied for and can get a pretty good stipend. It has a great scope. All the best.

NIT-Surathkal ranks 3rd for placements by NASSCOM in the year 2016 and also ranks 22 by NIRF for last two years. Some excellent dedication has seen by TPO and the assistance given placements committee in bringing top companies in designing MOU for 3-years consecutively. NITs are the premier institutes for engineering after the IITs. NIT, Surathkal is one of the top NITs and is known across the India.
