Electrical engineering is among the best engineering branches in every term of placement, research and further studies. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is among the best engineering Institutes of India. Very much placement ratio is seen here at every year in every branch. Talking about placements of electrical engineering at IIT-Kanpur, the placement ratio is very good and it is around 80 to 90%. The average package is around 5 to 7 LPA. Many Industries offers jobs to electrical engineers for the work related to their field. Companies like Reliance Industries, L&T, Adani Group, Wipro, etc. takes Students from here by offering very good amount of packages. Talking about the future, more jobs of core engineering branches will generate due to much establishment of industries and companies under make in India Initiative. So it is good to do engineering in core branches if one who is really interested in the field and having mindset of good placement with good amount of packages. So this was the placement ratio of IIT, Kanpur for electrical engineering branch.

Placement is decent for the electrical branch with approx 90% of the interested students getting the required jobs. The maximum number was for the year 2015 where 95 percent students got placed from Electrical specialization. Only 77 % of them getting the core jobs, which was a slight concern. A variety of companies visited which include software, banks, core, PSUs, consulting, data analytics, finance and marketing, startups, FMCG, etc. There are all sorts of companies coming to the campus, ranging from Google (25 LPA), Microsoft (23 LPA), Facebook (80 LPA) including perks and Esops. Also, core embedded design jobs were offered by Ericsson, Samsung, Intel with an average package going up to 8 LPA and highest for Rakuten with 35 LPA into app development roles. The dilemma still remains same in India where a majority of students get IT based roles irrespective of the branch which is a concern even for IIT-Kanpur. Overall, highly recommended for its ranking and brand reputation. Best of luck for future endeavours.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is one of the top IITs of India and currently ranked 5th according to the latest national institutional ranking framework. NIRF used all the parameters including Placement to rank a college or university. Placement scenario is different for different branches. The electrical engineering department of IIT, Kanpur have some experienced and qualified faculties. Placement in Electrical engineering is good. But core jobs are limited (may be due to current market conditions). Year wise placement details for B. Tech in electrical engineering is as follows:- 2013: Highest package offered is Rs 48 lakhs per annum and average salary offered is Rs 11.71 lakhs per annum. 2014: Highest package offered is Rs 45 lakhs per annum and average salary offered is Rs 12.7 lakhs per annum. 2015: Highest salary offered is Rs 31 lakhs per annum and average salary offered is Rs 11.1 lakhs per annum. The above stats are not only of core jobs. It includes jobs in IT, consultancy, finance, analytics etc. Some students opt for higher studies. Hope it helped.

which shows that it was in the range of Rs 12 to Rs 15 LPA (CTC). This year it should also be in the same range of around Rs 10 to Rs 15 LPA due to the reasons quoted above. Very less number of students, less than 45% students remain jobless at the end of both phases of the placements due to the various opportunities available in the diverse fields of Data, Software, ML etc. Last year itself, in some electrical engineering specializations like VLSI, SPCOM, RF there were 100% placements. In some like control systems, around 60 to 70% students got placement offers. One more important thing, if in some case you are not able to get placed from IIT-K campus recruitment process, still you will be able to fetch placement opportunity from off campus. The tag of being an IITian matter a lot and while studying in IIT, try to gain as much as you can if you are an industry oriented person, try to earn some tag in your resume which will be valued most during on campus as well as off campus recruitment process. Hope this helps! All the Best!
