Vellore Institute of Technology abbreviated as VIT, Vellore has a great placement record. These companies recruit students of mechanical engineering in large numbers: Accenture (1422), Wipro (1900+) and Cognizant (1300+) students. You need not worry about getting a job here since there are mass recruiters where core companies don't show up. The faculty members here are quite knowledgeable and supportive. The average starting salary in these companies ranges from 3.5 to 5 LPA. There are, however, usually very few core companies for mechanical engineering students. You need to be good at coding in at least one programming language i.e. C, C+, Java to stand a good chance of getting placed. If you haven't chosen your branch yet, and are interested in getting a job right after graduation, I'd advise you to either take up Computer Science (CSE) or take the GATE exam and apply for PSU's after you're done graduating. That'll open up good opportunities for you in companies such as Indian Oil, ONGC and other energy based companies. You could also try landing a core job after post graduation in energy engineering which can be done by taking the GATE exam and applying for the IITs or other reputed engineering colleges offering you great possibilities with energy engineering. x Do let us know if there's anything else we can help you with. All the best.
