First of all, I must tell you that the number of biotechnology opportunities in India is very less. Also, in almost every college, students get in marketing firms or IT jobs so as to get placed with a decent paying job to support oneself. If by any chance, you want to survive in the tough competition of getting placed in a core biotech company in India, you should at least consider going for a Master’s degree programme, unless you have an extraordinary profile after completing your undergraduate degree. That being said, the placements at Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology is an average in the field of biotechnology where almost 50-60% of the total batch that registers for placement gets placed in some IT companies with an average placement package of 6-7 LPA, provided you have some knowledge of coding and technical aspects, for which NSIT has a very good coding culture. Around 10-15% students get placed in the biotechnology core companies with packages of more than 8 LPA. I hope this helps. Cheers.

Biotechnology as a stream is very new in India and therefore the probability of securing placements in the core biotechnology profiles is very hard even at top Engineering colleges. That said, there are still several options of getting decent placement after completion of biotechnology from NSIT. Pharmaceutical companies, research companies as well as pharma consulting companies, flock to NSIT to recruit the biotechnology cohort every year. Though the average CTC is lower compared to other streams like CSE, IT, ECE but the profiles and the brand value of recruiters is pretty decent. Some of the past recruiters are CIPLA, ZS, Ernst & Young. Some students who are good at coding get a shot at IT profiles too but it is not easy as you need to compete with students from branches like CSE, IT, etc. Biotechnology is an emerging field and there is a tremendous scope for it. So, if one is planning to undertake it as a career option, it is definitely worth a shot as it helps you get into a futuristic programme where you might take a lot of advantage in future. Hope it helps. All the best.
