GD/PI is a very important part of the admission process and it is very important to prepare for GD/PI as hard as for CAT exam and other MBA entrance exams. One can simply start with reading newspaper 'The Hindu' (recommended). This will help you with the verbal section as well as for GD/PI. To perform well in GD/PI, students should try to speak on a random topic (can be picked up from internet). One can also join a coaching centre which prepares students for GD/PI. Attend a few mock GD/PIs which are conducted by these coaching institutes. For PI, please do some introspection and write down points and try to justify by giving your real life experience how you overcome difficulties in past. Be truthful during your interview. Thank you. I hope this helps.

GD is an interactive selection round which makes it a difficult one for you to out stand the others. You are judged on how and what you speak. It is very important to choose the right words but also express it properly with limited given time. Whereas What is tested on the basis of quality content and writing style. Regular practices in writing good contents can easily help you crack this round. The students must focus on their language skills, good grammar, appropriate vocabulary and correct punctuation for What, GD & PI rounds. Be precise in delivering your speech while making your point in GD round to ensure you portray your vision clearly. Quality of the content matters the most in What round, hence, make sure to pen down good and new words to improve your vocabulary skills. While for your GD & PI rounds support your views with examples but avoid statistics and figures. Rigorous reading is essential to be up to date with the current affairs. The more you read the broader your vision and understanding of issues will become that will help you crack your What, GD & PI rounds for admission process.

The personal interviews are one of the most important things for getting into top B Schools like IIM. Group discussions are not taken in all IIMs, nowadays What is given more preference over GDs. However there are many common things between What and GD - both need god knowledge of current affairs. So you need to stay updated about the current happenings. So make a habit of reading newspapers daily and try to develop your own opinion about the happenings. Discuss with your friends/classmates about the daily happenings. The interview is the main factor after CAT which will decide if you will get in or not. The panelists want to see if you are genuinely interested in MBA or here just for the money. You should have a great answer for "Why MBA?" and you should know as much as possible about field you are interested in. Be very careful about what you put on your resume. Most of the questions will be surrounding what you have written on your resume. So don't write hobby as reading books unless it actually is coz the panelists will surely ask you about it in detail and you will be caught.

TO prepare for GD and PI process of top B-schools you must first understand why GDs are conducted for admissions in these top institutions. GD refers to Group Discussions these basic aim is to check the communication skills, general awareness, body language, initiative skills, confidence level and subject matter knowledge, etc. These are the basic parameters which are to be checked by conducting GD so to prepare for these you must keep you confident, must be aware about the current events or general awareness and must be willing to take initiative to speak with proper body language. Practice can help in this kind of task. Now coming to interview these are concerned about checking the individual level of understanding, knowledge, confidence and subject matter so for these one must learn to be confident and calm, do not get nervous prepare for the program and be motivated for the task and clear your concept in mind.

GD is conducted in various B-schools as part of the selection procedure to ensure that the candidates have the right attitude, communication and current affairs knowledge necessary for completing the MBA course and getting placed in the right college. GD also helps the institutes evaluate your character when you are under stress and when you are part of a group. This will also help in evaluating your leadership skills. Similarly personal Interview is conducted to understand your depth of knowledge in the concepts, your understanding level and your interest and motivation for joining an MBA course. Keeping this in mind it is necessary to improve your communication and listening skills, your language, your knowledge in current affairs and brush upon your basic concepts you have learned during your under graduation. Understand what the institutions are looking for and prepare accordingly.
