Literature includes books, writings, etc. on any subject, which is basically of superior nature. It can be in any language. English is a language in itself and comes under the umbrella of the term literature. That's the difference. Do your undergraduate degree and post-graduation in English followed by the B.Ed. There you're as an English lecturer.

Literature and Language appears to be same word but are different in every aspects. In literature you go for writings like Novel,Essays Books, etc. But in language, you study English grammar to enhance your English writing and speaking skills. Now, it's up to you what you like. Good Luck
