A Sound Engineer or an Audio Engineer or a Sound Technician is not merely the man we know as Console Operator or even a DJ. Sound Engineering is not just switching between the songs or doing some sound mixing. Sound Engineering or Sound technician work involved high-level understanding of the technical aspects of voice and sound. It also involves bringing the best and reducing the worst of instruments and people's voice. We know Sound Engineers who have got Oscars for music arrangements. Yes, arrangement is a big thing when we see the Sound Design works. The qualities and skills that are required in a sound technician are: Technology Savvy and Aware of the latest Trends and Tools. Must be Enterprising and Improvising in Nature. Should be highly trained in terms of Instruments and software used. Computer Science and Engineering background skills will benefit. Troubleshooting and Crisis Management Skills. Music Sense.
