If you are talking about which branch have a better scope mechanical engineering or civil engineering, the first thing I want to tell you that each branch has its own significance and its own value, so don't compare that civil is better or mechanical is better, both are equally good and both are the core branches of engineering, so don't be confused. As mechanical engineering is the mother of all engineering branches so it is all about the designing and production of machines.

Both the branches are equally good. It’s up to you and your interest. In fact every engineering branch is equally important band are interconnected to each other. However, in you really wants to know which of these branches are good then I will place mechanical engineering at the top. Mechanical engineering is called the mother of engineering. There are wide number of scopes and opportunities in the field of mechanical engineering. If you want to compare placement wise then again mechanical engineering will have the upper hand. You can check the websites of even the top IIT .The average placement in core civil engineering is pathetic. Reason behind it is that civil engineering has to gain much more experience in order to get high paying job. While this is not very important in the field of mechanical engineering. I think one should pursue Bachelor's/Masters in any engineering branch in which his/her interest lies. You will have to deal with it in your whole career. So choose wisely and stay happy.

Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering both are the most popular branches of engineering which attracts a lot of students to make a good career in this field. Mechanical Engineering has more demand and better scope than civil engineering as it is one of the oldest branches of engineering. Even the new department of mechanical engineering such as automobile engineering, mechatronics engineering which give a wide range to this field. Nowadays, we are finding a way to make life easier that's why we are developing a lot of this which only mechanical engineers can do. Every day, technology surprise us in a way as engineers contribute but mechanical engineers have a large part in it. That's a reason why it is more in demand. Here are some of the basic differences between mechanical engineering and civil engineering which makes it easy to choose a career. 1.Civil engineering: design building. Mech. engineering: inventing and reinventing machinery. 2.Civil engineering: Project is time taking. Mech. engineering: May be short or long. 3.Civil engineering: work on large scale. Mech. engineering: work may be in both case large or small scale. 4.Salary less in civil as compared to Mech. 5.Civil engineering: Works with the construction manager, architect, construction workers. Mech. engineering: works mainly with engineers. 6.Civil engineering: Company is less. Mech. engineering: there are many companies. * Note:- I am not saying that civil engineering is not a good branch. No dear, it is also having a lot of scope in the future. It is really adventurous. Here, one can travel all around the world during their project. Nowadays, we are focusing on tech. that's why mechanical engineering is more demanding. A student who wishes to take civil engineering or has already taken never get disappointed. I hope you got the answer.
