The department remains committed towards its mission, which is twofold. One is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and problem solving skills in Computer Science required for a fulfilling career. The other goal is to create and disseminate knowledge to improve Computer Science research, education and practice. The department has academic collaborations with University of New Brunswick, Canada, University of Melbourne, Australia and University of Manitoba, Canada.

I think I will recommend VIT. The faculty members and course curriculum there are great. BIT-Mesra is good too and the crowd there is great. It comes down to which location you prefer. If you want to go to a place with a better education then go for VIT. If you want to go to a place with a satisfactory education and a great crowd then choose BIT.

VIT-Vellore Here are some of the insights of the college. Intake: 240 (CSE) Placements Average package: 6 LPA Highest package: 24 LPA Recruiters: TCS, IBM, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, Nokia, Siemens, Accenture, Microsoft, IGATE and Tally Solutions. BIT has a better alum network, better placement records (avg salaries, diversity of companies), better recognition in the US (applicable if interested in higher studies in the US), better programming community. VIT has a more modern infrastructure and has done well in its 20+ years of existence. It is certainly one of the best colleges in the South, but I'd still give BIT the edge. According to me, Birla Institute of Technology-Mesra is much better college then Vellore Institute of Technology University. Placement in both of the colleges are different and can be seen with facts below In VIT Average salary provided by the companies is about 6-7 lakh per annum. Highest salary provided by the companies is about 21 lakh per annum. In BIT Average salary provided by the companies is about 7-8 lakh per annum. Highest salary provided by the companies is about 36 lakh per annum. Here is the link showing a comparison between the colleges on the basis of Computer Science Engineering course.
