How did you prepare for the AIIMS UG entrance exams?

When I was in class 10th, my school principal told me to fill forms of Aakash and Narayana coaching tests (ANTHE and NSAT). She gave me the application forms for free. At that time, I hadn’t thought about joining coaching. I was thinking to get a coaching after 12th.

I took those exams, and got full scholarship from both institutes. I chose Aakash as it was more renowned.

My classes started on April 17, 2012. I started studying for Aakash. I tried to revise what had been taught in the coaching on a daily basis. I made class notes, and preferred them for a quick revision. I solved MCQs regularly.

In my first weekly test, I secured 225/240, highest in my branch.

I am an engineering student had biology as a my additional in +2 cbse.
Naturally i was in a section where all my 40 classmates aspired to be a doctor.
For two years they mugged biology, gave little attention to physics chem and neglected mathematics.
My approach was full focus on PCM and read NCERT biology once or twice a week.
I was a preparing for IIT so my Physics & Chemistry were stronger than what was required while my friends went crazy about biology reading MBBS/hons books.

First we had our state exams Wbjee (phy-50;chem-50;bio-150)
my rank was abt 600 marks( 167/250)
Eight boys in class got better rank than me.

Then AIPMT(cancelled) (phy: 180; chem: 180; bio: 360)
I got 533 ( bio 200; phy& chem 333)
Only four boys got a better score.

AIIMS (phy: 60 chem 60 bio 60 gk 20)
 it took place after jee adv so i was very lethargic and almost slept through exam and had no motivation to give it parents said no harm in giving and coaxed me into giving it.
my rank in 800s!!!
I had a hard time believing my rank.
Only one student ahead of me in my class.

So my rank dramatically improved as phy/chem weightage increased
Suppose i wanted to be a doctor i would have managed to get in any national level college without studying biology properly.
While most of my friends who toiled for medical for two years have to take up some fringe college in wbjee.
Now those of u who are reading this know much more bio than I do and will surely score more than me in biology and can get a top 50 rank in aiims but please pay attention to physics and chemistry the are the key to your success.
I would advice all AIPMT and AIIMS aspirants to prepare for jee mains level physics & chemistry.
Biology questions are atleast 80% NCERT and common sense otherwise i wouldn't have got 60% in biology in AIPMT ( i hardly rem class 11 bio)
